Introduction to Assign Authorized Representative Later

For customers who grant Employees the ability to assign an Authorized Representative when completing I-9 Section 1, it may also be desirable to allow the Employee to indicate that the employer ought to complete Section 2 instead. This is particularly useful for customers who utilize Able on-site as part of their hiring operations.


Candidate Experience

Assigning an Authorized Representative in I-9 Section 1

  • Complete all required fields of I-9 Section 1
  • Complete the Employee Attestation and Preparer and/or Translator sections of I-9 Section 1
  • In section, Authorized Representative, select I will complete Section 2 on site. I do not need to assign my own Authorized Representative.
  • Finish and Sign I-9 Section 1


Recruiter Experience

Allowing an Employee to Assign an Authorized Representative 

  • Ensure your Able Administrator has enabled the necessary configurations, described in Configuring Assign Authorized Representative Later
  • When viewing the Applicant Profile View, select New Onboarding Request
  • From the Forms input, select 2020 I-9 Section 1
  • Under Authorized Representative, select Applicant Assigned
  • Select Send Workflow to assign the I-9 to the Employee

Assigning an Authorized Representative From the Applicant Profile View

  • Navigate to an Applicant record
  • From the section, Active Onboarding, select Assign Authorized Representative

Assigning an Authorized Representative From I-9 Dashboard

  • Navigate to I-9 Dashabord
  • Locate an Applicant I-9 Record and click the table row to present I-9 Details Panel
  • From I-9 Details Panel, under the section, Authorized Representative, select from the Authorized Representative Email list the individual you wish to assign as the authorized representative
  • Press Assign Auth Rep

Administrators can enable this configuration by setting to On the following configurations:

System Settings > Form I-9 & E-Verify > Allow Applicant to Assign Authorized Representative

and 

System Settings > Form I-9 & E-Verify > Allow Applicant to Assign Authorized Representative > Assign Authorized Representative Later

  • This configuration is defaulted to Off.
